Presiding Elder Rev. Dr. Joseph C. Brown, Sr., was reared in Pollocksville, NC. He has a passion for studying, preaching and teaching the word of God. He has a sincere love for God and a compassion for His people. For almost 50 years Elder Brown has been effective communicator of God’s Word. He is widely known for his practical and dynamic teaching style which helps people apply the timeless truths of Scripture to their everyday lives.
Elder Brown is a graduate of Shaw University with a B.A. in History and has attended Southeastern Theological Seminary as well as Shaw Divinity School. In May of 2019 he was awarded an Honorary Doctorate of Divinity from Livingston College. Over the years he has held positions in the business world as a North Carolina Human Relations Specialist, Sergeant at Arms for the North Carolina Senate and a Counselor for North Carolina Division of Vocational Rehabilitation. He holds fraternal memberships in Prince Hall Mason, Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity Inc. and the NAACP. Elder Brown holds a number of positions such as Delegate to the General Conference, Member of the Presiding Elders Council, Chairman of the Committee on Holy Orders, Board of Trustees for Central North Carolina Conference.

This recipient of the NC Order of the Long Leaf Pine is no doubt a Man of God and a visionary. He and his beautiful wife Sandra have one son. They are blessed with two grandchildren.
Convenes check-up meetings and annual conference; receives reports, gives out appointments, ordains / passes ministers-in-training to next level, collects funds for operation of conference (Home Missions, etc.) and the connectional assessments.
